Nowadays times not simply flies, but it whizes without granting us a chance to have some rest. After spending a lovely week-end with the guys, we have got nor less exciting Saturday and Sunday with another friends of ours. But this time we had 'different parties' and quite different activities away from each other.

   Pam was busy showing some places around in London and Oxford to her Spanish girlfriends. They had some fantastic time together, while I went on an amazing trip to Stonehenge, to a town with the second tallest cathedral (of Saint Mary) in Europe - Salisbury, as well as another little cosy town known as a place of a human stone-made altar which has been preserved from the ancient times till nowadays - a town of Avenbury. It was an unforgettable experience, especially a visit to the Stonehenge where each and every stone has its long and amazing legend. Even nowadays people still cannot be sure whether this monument played a role of an ancient observatory, or was it a kind of a religious temple where some sacrifices were made. To tell the truth it did not bother me at all, I just enjoyed looking at the beautiful and quite unusual built stone composition, and tried to picture in my imagination scenes from the past.

   By the way, on Saturday I and Mireille (my guest from Leiden) experienced a very ghosty tour which we took around Oxford. It happened to be a wonderful performance of an actor who led us through the old streets of the city telling great stories of some notorious personages from the history of Oxford. Now and then he got his public surprised by making some tricks with a burning book or cutting his arm.   

   This week is going to be a very busy one. First need to finish all papers for Leiden. Second, mevrouw Sijpesteijn is coming! wow! She will give a lecture in All Soul's college in Oxford on this Wednesday. I am very curious what it is going to be about. 11 a.m. will be there and see!
